Grinding Teeth

Teeth Grinding or Bruxism

Most people that grind their teeth are unaware that they do it. This is because it usually happens while they sleep. Occasional teeth grinding does not cause any damages, but extended bruxism will eventually lead to severe conditions, such as the wearing down of the teeth, or cracking them. Some symptoms to watch for:

  1. Headaches upon awakening
  2. Jaw soreness
  3. A loved one who hears you grinding during the night

Most Common Reasons for Teeth Grinding

While stress can lead to teeth grinding, other conditions are usually present.

  1. Sleep apnea
  2. Long-term anxiety

A simple custom-moulded mouthpiece may be sufficient to diminish teeth grinding while you sleep. If you have been grinding your teeth over a long period of time, you may need some teeth reconstruction with fillings and crowns. Our team will assess your condition and recommend the best option for you.

If you suspect that you are grinding your teeth, please call our clinic at once for a full assessment and the best course of treatment.
